Students need to complete registration online at www.actstudent.org.  The counselor will have a few paper registrations available in the office.  A student still in high school and registered for a national ACT Assessment® test date within the last two years, has a record already on file.  The entire folder does not have to be completed again.  However, the name, address, and basic information such as the high school code, test center choices, and college choices must be completed every time the student registers.  One will want to update courses taken and grades earned since the last time tested.  It is important for students to give the high school code when registering.  The school will then receive the official label from ACT which can be placed on the transcript.  It is further recommended that students who wish to test in Alva at NWOSU give only one test site code (034120) to ensure that that is the only site listed on the ACT test ticket.  Students will receive ACT  scores at the mailing address which was listed on the registration form.  The school will continue to receive a copy of the scores and the sticker for the students' transcripts.

Fee Waivers waivers may be available for students who can't afford the registration fee.  Students who have been approved for free and reduced lunches are eligible for fee waivers.  Funds are limited, and once they have been exhausted requests for waivers will be denied.  To use a fee waiver, a paper folder does not have to be completed for registration; however the registration number must be used as the form of payment.  All three of the following eligibility requirements must be met:
     1.  Currently attend high school as a junior or senior.
     2.  Meet at least one indicator of economic need listed on the ACT fee
waiver form.  Information about these indicators and how to request
fee waiver forms is mailed each fall to the high school counselor.
     3.  A fee waiver may be used once during the junior year and once during the senior
year.  THE WAIVER HAS BEEN USED ONCE HE OR SHE HAS REGISTERED, EVEN IF THE
          STUDENT DOES NOT TEST
.

Fee waivers now include the cost of the writing test.  It will cover only the basic registration fee including up to four valid college choices listed on the registration folder.  Waivers do not cover test date changes, test center changes, or any other fees.  PLEASE NOTE:  A fee waiver cannot be requested directly.  Go to the high school guidance counselor for a signed official ACT fee waiver form for the current testing year.

ATHLETES WHO QUALIFY FOR FEE WAIVERS ON THE ACT TEST ALSO QUALIFY FOR THE NCAA CLEARINGHOUSE FEE WAIVER.

The school wants to help students take advantage of this fee waiver opportunity; however, students need to see the counselor if they wish to take advantage of this opportunity.

Early Scores by Web , www.actstudent.org , may be viewed before official scores  are received by mail.  NEW!!!  Students who register online will be able to preview scores free as soon as they are available.  Please remember that students cannot expect to receive scores from one test date in time to register for the next one.

Residual testing for the ACT and SAT is available at all colleges and universities.  Residual testing is for the college/university use; however, it can work to your advantage as well.  It may help to meet admission requirements, curriculum requirements, and increase your opportunities for scholarship.  OU and OSU test both in the morning and in the afternoon on weekdays.  An appointment is necessary at all schools.  Two weeks in advance is usually enough time to make appointments; however, before deadlines, it is often necessary to book longer in advance.  The counselor may be contacted for more information or for help in making an appointment STUDENTS WHO GET AT LEAST TWO DAYS PRIOR APPROVAL MAY BE DCA TO TAKE A RESIDUAL TEST AND/OR HAVE A COLLEGE VISITATION.

**Students may be DCA from school to take a test on any college campus.  Please contact the counselor to get a DCA Assignment Sheet at least TWO (2) days prior to the date of the appointment.  If it is not possible to do so two days prior, you may have your parent call to excuse you from school.  The principal will consider this an excused absence.

NMSQT/PSAT (qualifying test for National Merit Scholarship competition)  October 12, 2011 at
8:00 a.m. in the high school library.
Only juniors are considered for the National Merit Scholarship competition; however, sophomores and freshmen may take the test.  Seniors  will be notified in September 2011 if they have been selected as a semifinalist.  Freshmen and sophomores should be preparing for the PSAT by improving math and verbal skills.  There are books and web sites that can give you valuable information and help in your preparation.

One valuable way to prepare for the vocabulary is to learn the 1200 words that may be used on the PSAT.  You can make flash cards and write sentences to help you remember them.  Get the entire family involved.  Practice in the car or around the table or just any place you have a few extra minutes.  It does pay to prepare.  Preparation tests are available in the counselor's office or at www.collegeboard.com.  Check out the sites listed at the top of this page for more help.
