Quick Links to Month of Deadline:

(November)   (December)   (January)   (February)   (March)   (April)   (May)   (June)

This calendar is an attempt to remind students of important dates.  Please check with the counselor, listen to daily announcements, and check the counselor's bulletin board at the high school frequently.  This calendar will be updated as new information arrives.

Updating is an ongoing practice. Please note that many scholarship applications have not been made available, yet.   Check another source or the counselor for dates in December.    Also check the "Last Updated" date and remember to refresh your page:

LAST UPDATED: 9-28-11

Seniors were given the opportunity to attend the Area Wide College/Career Fair on September 12th where materials and applications were made available to them.  Applications and help are also available in the counselor's office.

SCHOLARSHIP TIPS:

1, Students need to contact the colleges/universities for scholarship information and applications if they are not included in the student application for admission packet.
     2. Watch for updates regarding scholarships from the Counselor's office on this webpage; listen to announcements which are made third and sixth hours for three days; and check the counselor's bulletin boards.
     3.  Parents are invited to email the counselor their email addresses to receive announcements from the counseling office as they are made.
     4.  Students and parents should watch the newspapers and television for scholarship announcements.
     5.  Students and parents should watch for church-sponsored scholarships and for those sponsored by other groups in the community, state, and nation.
     6.  Parents should ask their employers if any company-sponsored scholarships are available for employees' children.
     7.  Colleges and universities have scholarships available.  Students must apply for admission prior to applying for scholarships.  Students who are having challenges with the application process or who can't find scholarship lists on the college/university website are invited to come to the counselor's office for help.

**Students need to be aware that state technology schools and private technology schools also have scholarships available.  Help is just a "counselor away."

8.  Watch all deadlines!!! The counselor will attempt to remind students, but deadlines are students' responsibility.
     9.  Students need to be aware of the criteria on which their applications are being judged:  ACT or SAT test scores; grade point averages; class rank; activities and leadership roles; letters of recommendations; personal statement or essays; and financial need.

New  Seniors and Juniors:  Mrs. Frascht has posted the local scholarships on the Alva High School site. You may type them directly on the website and print them or you may stop by the counselor's office for paper copies.  These also are ongoing scholarships.  Check them often because they change as our donor's change.
